At Kimpton, we’re part of the LGBT community.
Since our founding in San Francisco more than three decades ago, Kimpton has been a part of the LGBT community. It wasn’t a strategy. It wasn’t a business plan. It was just the right thing to do. Across the Kimpton experience — from the nonprofits we champion, to the special packages and promotions we offer, to the benefits we provide our employees — we welcome and celebrate diversity.
We certainly don’t do it for the applause, but it’s been gratifying to earn a 100 percent rating from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for the past decade, as well as recognition as Out Traveler’s Best Hotel Chain (2013).
And it’s been especially rewarding working with The Trevor Project, an outreach program for LGBT and questioning young people, as its Premier National Hotel Partner and Presenting Sponsor of its Ambassador Program.
At Kimpton, we believe one of our greatest strengths is our diverse workplace. Each Kimpton employee is valued for their talents and contributions, and never judged on gender, race or sexual orientation. Since our founding in San Francisco more than 30 years ago, we have embraced the LGBT community as an important part of that diversity. And we've made a commitment to positive change by identifying organizations that can make a difference.
The Trevor Project is a perfect example and embodies the type of results-oriented group we like to align ourselves with. The nation's largest organization serving as a crisis and suicide prevention lifeline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people, The Trevor Project provides an invaluable service by offering 24/7 counseling and other services to at-risk LGBT youth.
As The Trevor Project's Premier National Hotel Partner, as well as the Presenting Sponsor of its Ambassador Program, we are involved on the local and national levels, donating room nights, meeting space and catering. Our partnership is employee-driven, and Kimpton employees are involved in local outreach on behalf of the Trevor Project through the “Kimpton Presents: Trevor Ambassador Program.” The program helps foster awareness of the issues facing LGBT youth and the availability of life-saving resources available through The Trevor Project. Supporting a safe and judgment-free place for young people to go is just another way Kimpton cares for our community.
MyGayGetaway proclaims, "Kimpton's contribution and outreach to the LGBT audience is to be applauded!"
We do love this property. This is the home of Harry Denton's Starlight Room as well. Classic '30's glamour reins at this uniquely San Franciscan hotel. The lobby is breathtaking, the rooms are well-equipped and the staff is courteous and attentive. Harry Denton's Starlight Room at the top of the hotel is one of the swankiest and gayest non-gay clubs in the city, with incredible views of the city.
Great location! Close to all the high end department stores. The famous Sears restaurant was right across the street. The Trolley stop was right in front of the hotel. A REALLY BIG BONUS - Starbucks was next door & a popular night club was on the Top Floor! -JakeJupiter
