Nothings too much trouble
Ok the starter for 10’s. Excellent location midway between the major galleries and the Palace on a local plaza. Loads of eateries and bars on the doorstep. Upon mention of my birthday on arrival, we were upgraded to plaza view and a cup cake was left.Room had all those little extras; iron, coffee machine, mini bar with fridge, every bathroom shampoo and lotion you could want plus toothbrush and shoe kits. Mood lighting. Very comfy beds and air con heating was not too noisy. It snowed during stay. Only drawback to room was noise from plaza crowds beneath room until very late. Was even provided with a couple of umbrellas for snow showers. Young staff were excellent. Didn’t eat in restaurant other than hot drinks. Roof top bar will be great in warmer weather. All in all a great value hotel with superb service. If we come back to Madrid we will stay again. The trip was a birthday trip to see live gig at the Riviera club. Great show by Stereophonics. The venue is very intimate with good sound. No security issues and it was all smooth from entry to cloakroom pick ups after gig. Beers are 10 euro!!! Also visited the Bernabau, Royal Palace, Prado and Monastery. All worth while. -paulriddiford, Caerphilly
Look no further
I am a travel agent for over 30 years now, so I am very picky, when it comes to hotels. I don't need a 5 star hotel. I look for location, condition of the hotel, and price. I recently stayed here, and it is a perfect choice for Madrid. You can't get much better. The location is literally 10 minute walk to Prado, and other major museums, and maybe 15 to el El Retiro Park. About 15 minutes to Plaza Mayo, and tons of restaurants within 5 minutes walking, or less.
The hotel staff are excellent. Every one of them. True professionalism. I admire when I see employees actually doing their job, and doing it well. From check in, where all my requests, prior to arrival, were granted, and so on. The concierge desk, Elena, for one, was excellent with all her assistance with transfers and other requests.
The price of the hotel, in March, was great and the beds are heavenly, seriously comfortable!
Also if you are looking for a typical Spanish tapas restaurants with excellent hard working staff, try Alhambra, on Calle Victoria-about 4 minutes walking, there are 2 side by side-we went into Small menu, all in Spanish, but all good-the Sangria is a must. -ddek8, New York
Centrally located. Surrounded by food and culture. A great choice of hotel.
Centrally located. Fabulous views. Great rooftop bar ( although service in the bar was slow). The welcome and service from reception and the concierge was superb. This is a young, smart fairly trendy hotel.
We paid extra for a view and were delighted to be given room 602- a very nice room with a massive balcony, sun beds, table and chairs etc with superb views. Even better, despite the high floor, we were not affected by noise from the rooftop bar at night. What a result. This is a city centre hotel so we did not expect a large room. Very nice toiletries. Soft bathrobes. Sexy lighting was an unexpected treat!
Good choice of breakfast. Definitely would return. -murray_towers, Reading, United Kingdom
Comfortable & great location
We booked this hotel because we wanted to be within walking distance of all the tourist attractions Madrid had to offer. That it was very comfortable and had great amenities, was an unexpected bonus!
VERY quiet/good soundproofing. Asked for a kettle & it arrived straight away. Had issue with ‘the romantic lights’ coming on randomly several times during the first night which they thankfully sorted out!
We also ate dinner in the hotel restaurant one night after a truly disastrous experience at a local restaurant (served frozen fish so unable to eat!). The hotel meal was very good and excellent value. -Mel F
