Andaz Amsterdam is a gay friendly hotel in Amsterdam found in the city centre’s vibrant Jordaan and Canal Ring district where art galleries, speciality shops and chic boutiques abound.
The look by designer Marcel Wanders is full-on colourful, playful, busy and elegant, and not without so-called gay appeal. In fact the hotel offers a 'rainbow package' at various points throughout the year; this includes a special goody bag, "handcrafted cocktails" and other pink bonuses. The building previously served as the public library and is located on the cusp of the Grachtengordel and Centrum.
MyGayGetaway.com recommends the Canal View rooms here. Choose your dates and click "Book Now." Garden and Canal rooms are available. We loved the Canal views!
Really can't fault this hotel - great stay in Amsterdam
I've got to a stage in my life where I come to Amsterdam for lovely meals, hipster shopping and museums - and not to trawl the dope cafes and red light district, thank you but no thanks. The Andaz is right in the middle of the old city with easy access to the shops on the "9 Streets". It's where you want to be. And if your budget allows, this is a lovely hotel to use as a base. The rooms are stylish with a canal view. And our tasting menu dinner was so lovely, we came back the next night with a friend. -Tony M, London, England, United Kingdom
An absolutely fantastic hotel sums it up. We spent 5 nights there and it exceeded all our expectations. The room was very well appointed and comfortable. The soft drinks and water in the fridge are complimentary. In the evenings they have a complimentary wine tasting from 5 - 7pm. The staff are exceptional, they have an award winning bar tender who mixes the most amazing cocktails, the manageress of the bar also was fantastic, we had cocktails most evenings which were all fantastic. Meals in the hotels restaurant were top notch. In summation 10/10 would be a fair rating. Thanks for a wonderful stay. To the bar tender - enjoy the Musgrave. -Rob H, Durban, South Africa
Wow. What a way to experience Amsterdam!
This hotel is amazing. I loved the art and decor, very striking. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are fantastic. Comfy beds, great waterfall shower, stocked complimentary mini fridge (soft drinks and snacks). It feels nice to stay in luxury whilst holidaying in the Dam- I usually stay in air bnbs so this was a great welcomed change.
I’d highly recommend staying here. In fact when I return to Amsterdam I’m going to struggle to stay elsewhere now! -Leyla K, London, United Kingdom
Great design and good service.
This hotel was a great experience. First of all the service was excellent. We were met by a complimentary drink. The hotel also has a “happy hour” , serving wine every day in the library between 5pm-7 pm. Which is a nice service. The very cool room was great. Very pleased that we ordered a room with a view over the canal. The bar was great, with good drinks and elegant design. Breakfast was also very good. The restaurant is elegant and the fact that my favorite lamp, Skygarden, was hanging there, did it for me. The design all over the hotel is modern, interesting and beautiful. I would absolutely love to come back. One of the best hotel experiences I had. -Mette N
Such a beautiful hotel in an inspiring location
The hotel is nestled between local boutiques, art galleries and restaurants yet spacious and beautiful! Canal view in the front and garden view in the back. An old library and historic feel balanced with modern art make it remarkable. Staff are superbly helpful and friendly. -Elizabeth G, Heredia, Costa Rica
Hip and Modern hotel in great location
This was our first experience with Andaz and we will definitely be looking for Andaz hotels in the future. The Amsterdam hotel was perfectly located for shopping and access to town and trains. The staff was outstanding helping in every way and making us feel welcome and well cared for. The art and atmostphere was hip and exciting. -Katy G, Hanalei, Hawaii
Look no further!!!
The Andaz is the perfect hotel for your visit to Amsterdam. Great quiet location but central to everything you want to see and do. Friendly caring staff, clean, unique decor and our room was so fun and comfortable. Cool lobby bar. Stop wasting your time looking at other hotels!! -jeffhill2018, Richmond, Virginia
Quirky but fabulous hotel on a canal
The decor and service in this hotel were both fabulous. Free but limited mini bar, plentiful bottled water for free (very important to me) and interesting decor in all areas of the hotel and its rooms. I only stayed for one night but the service and support offered was excellent (I had a sore foot and needed some assistance). The breakfast was very good and flexible - mixing a la carte and a buffet. -Cathy D, Sydney, Australia
Wonderful end to our honeymoon
We stayed on 3rd April and chose the Andaz based and were blown away! The interior design by Marcel Wanders is simply amazing. Well thought out and makes for a very relaxing and homely feel. Not many hotels can match or come close to the artistic approach found here.
This is complimented by the superb service provided by hotel staff. Early arrival wasn't a problem and we were quickly checked in and given useful local information. We were then personally shown to our spacious fourth floor room and given a quick overview of the many features, including the open plan bathroom which is tastefully done. The hotels location is convenient for the '9 streets' shopping area, Dam Square, Anne Frank museum plus many more places of interest. We enjoyed taking a tram from central station less than 20 minutes away. Special thanks to Kim and her team who went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay for our honeymoon, including a personalised restaurant booking. The bar staff were also great and very knowledgable on drinks recommendations.
We will certainly return when staying in Amsterdam again. -rob1881, NorthEastEngland
