Why Stay Here?

At Kimpton we're part of the LGBT community.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has supported the LGBT community for thirty years. Based in San Francisco, we were one of the first hotel brands to develop outreach programs for the LGBT community and the very first brand to score 100% on the HRC Corporate Equality index. Our hotels are pet-friendly and tend to be perfectly located in urban cores of important gay-friendly destinations. Put simply - we feel our hotels are unique like you. We treat our guests like extended family, and work to ensure that all guests have memorable stays. IN addition to all of our amenities we proudly offer amenities such as free evening wine hour and coffee and tea bar every morning.

MyGayGetaway proclaims, "Kimpton's contribution and outreach to the LGBT audience is to be applauded!"

Since our founding in San Francisco more than three decades ago, Kimpton has been a part of the LGBT community. It wasn’t a strategy. It wasn’t a business plan. It was just the right thing to do. Across the Kimpton experience — from the nonprofits we champion, to the special packages and promotions we offer, to the benefits we provide our employees — we welcome and celebrate diversity.

We certainly don’t do it for the applause, but it’s been gratifying to earn a 100 percent rating from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for the past decade, as well as recognition as Out Traveler’s Best Hotel Chain (2013).

And it’s been especially rewarding working with The Trevor Project, an outreach program for LGBT and questioning young people, as its Premier National Hotel Partner and Presenting Sponsor of its Ambassador Program.

At Kimpton, we believe one of our greatest strengths is our diverse workplace. Each Kimpton employee is valued for their talents and contributions, and never judged on gender, race or sexual orientation. Since our founding in San Francisco more than 30 years ago, we have embraced the LGBT community as an important part of that diversity. And we've made a commitment to positive change by identifying organizations that can make a difference.

The Trevor Project is a perfect example and embodies the type of results-oriented group we like to align ourselves with. The nation's largest organization serving as a crisis and suicide prevention lifeline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people, The Trevor Project provides an invaluable service by offering 24/7 counseling and other services to at-risk LGBT youth.

As The Trevor Project's Premier National Hotel Partner, as well as the Presenting Sponsor of its Ambassador Program, we are involved on the local and national levels, donating room nights, meeting space and catering. Our partnership is employee-driven, and Kimpton employees are involved in local outreach on behalf of the Trevor Project through the “Kimpton Presents: Trevor Ambassador Program.” The program helps foster awareness of the issues facing LGBT youth and the availability of life-saving resources available through The Trevor Project. Supporting a safe and judgment-free place for young people to go is just another way Kimpton cares for our community.

Fantastic Visit!
I highly recommend the Kimpton Hotel Vintage in Portland. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the location is great. My favorite part of my stay was all of the amenities! Be sure to enjoy the hosted wine hour, live music and complimentary bikes - we were able to relax at the hotel and soak in the Portland culture. This was a memorable and super fun experience :) -AJOwens, San Francisco, California

Fun and Comfortable Place to Stay in downtown Portland
Stayed here on a Saturday night and had a great experience. Our expectation was a clean and comfortable room with good service. Our expectations were far exceeded. Not only was the staff excellent, attentive and genuine, there were several hotel amenities that surprised us in the best of ways. The day we stayed (Saturday), the hotel not only had their normal happy hour event going on, but also had a local winery on site for wine tasting... Quite the treat!. In addition, they had live music that night and the duo playing was excellent. So excellent in fact, that we cancelled our dinner plans and stayed to watch them play. The food was very good and the shuffleboard table upstairs rounded out a perfectly wonderful experience. Thanks to the staff! -Craig C

Beautiful hotel with unique and hip decor
The hotel was beautiful and clean. Very fun place to stay. Room was very comfortable and very large. We stayed in the King suite room with the large soaking tub in the bathroom. Tub was super deep and felt like sitting in a hot tub. Staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Restaurant was being renovated so it was not open but the bar and common areas were very nice. Highly recommend the Smoke and Fire drink at the bar, the bartender came up with it himself after the bad fires during summer 2017. Super yummy. Also enjoyed the free wine tasting offered daily. Location is great, easy to walk to many locations including the notorious Food Truck Court as well as Powell's Bookstore. -Ashten H

Great Stay
We enjoyed 4 nights at the Kimpton Vintage. The bed & pillows were comfortable and having a full-size couch in the room was nice for our longer stay. The complimentary wine hour was enjoyable. We also enjoyed seeing that dogs were welcomed (and we read that there are no fees, which is fantastic)! -GiddyupBorzoi, Northeast Ohio

Great location, nice staff
I really like the Vintage in Portland. Lovely room and lobby. I would stay there again. The front desk staff really tries to make you feel welcome. The wine hour is great and the bar is pretty with a nice selection. My room was right next to the elevators and I didn't hear any noises. The room decor is also quite cute. -ek l, hoboken, nj 4622

Great Boutique Hotel
We couldn't have picked a better home base for our trip to Portland. The hotel's staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. On our first night, the cold water in our room was not working, and the staff bent over backwards to make things right. We chose not to move because we loved our room so much. The restaurant was under construction while we were there, and damage was done to a pipe; but the problem was fixed first thing in the morning. There were no problems the rest of our stay. The hotel's location was great for exploring Portland, and the staff was skilled at making perfect recommendations for meals. We enjoyed some small meals in the bar area of the hotel. The food was very good, and they have a nice wine selection. -Michelle W, Syracuse

A boutique downtown Portland hotel and favorite!

A pioneering kind of place -

Our inspiration comes from our Oregon Trail forefathers, who we can only assume could’ve used a nice glass of wine at the end of the day. They enjoyed the finer things in life (they landed here, after all), but they were never pretentious about it (you’ve gotta be somewhat low-key when you’re in a covered wagon for a few months). Fast-forward to modern times, and we think they would’ve loved the boutique flavor of Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland, where we do things a little differently. Be social at our lobby wine tastings or in our game lounge, then retreat into your own cocoon of comfort, with curated bottles of wine, oak-headboard beds, and a red couch that begs for lounging time. When you’re ready to go out, you’re in the epicenter of it all, just steps from Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland.

Accommodations - Welcome to wine country’s urban outpost

In homage to Willamette Valley’s wines, each floor is dedicated to a different Willamette Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) and each room to a local winery. We have 97 different room layouts throughout the hotel. No matter your room type, you can always count on a curated bottle of wine, street-inspired art, luxe finishes, and a bed so comfy you may want to plan on sleeping in.

Our Guest Rooms and Specialty Suites are all available to book at!
