The Ace brand is a gay owned design hotel.
A friendly hotel celebrating time-honored classics and creative gumption. Inspired design, unprecedented hospitality and the best bed you'll ever sleep on.
The Ace chain, viewed as hip and urban, was begun by three gay men in 1999. Alex Calderwood, Wade Weigel, and Doug Herrick successfully turned a Seattle halfway house into a destination hotel before opening more properties in Portland, Ore., New York City - Manhattan, Palm Springs and Los Angeles. Many of the hotels are frequented by celebrities, media, and LGBT patrons.
The hip, gay-owned Ace Hotel chain has become very popular for the energetic vibe.
Ace Hotel London Shoreditch hangs its hat in London's most creative, engaged district. A hub for galleries, theatre and design, Shoreditch is home to the Brick Lane Market, landmark creatives and renegade artists from around the world. The neighbourhood's legacy includes theatres running banned 16th century plays, the debut of drag pioneer Hetty King and the first rumbles of industrialized craft in the Western Hemisphere. Today, it's a place where art, design, culinary innovation, culture and tech gather and phosphoresce from the heat of collaboration, inspiration and a soft spot for the future.
You can buy some things right out of your room, like the custom A.P.C. quilts, vintage vinyl and wings + horns robes just by taking them with you — we’ll charge it after you checkout.
We have an online shop too, where you can find Ace-made wares and collaborations, and just some things we think are cool. And if you miss Ace Palm Springs, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles or New York, you can find souvenirs you forgot to buy when you were there.
We also have luxuries and necessities, gift certificates and good stuff — like Rudy’s Barbershop bath products, custom guitar strings, Ace shirts, Moleskine notebooks and records curated by Sister Ray — for sale at the front desk store.
There's a gym downstairs packed with up-to-date workout equipment — stationary bikes, treadmills, weights, an art installation-cum-climbing wall (you know, the usual). It's open to you around the clock with your room key. There's a sauna down there, too, to soothe your travel-weary souls.
We commissioned Grace Winteringham and Anna Murray of creative studio Patternity to create a giant art installation that doubles as a custom-tailored Climbing Wall — a monochromatic, movement-inspired crag designed with training in mind. To maximize the subterranean space, the artists collaborated with expert climbers who helped turn their gradient vision into a super functional, easy-on-the-eyes, 4x3.2m scaling surface.
Built by Therapie Kletterwand, The Climbing Wall's incline adjusts from 10° to 30°, meaning that both experienced and amateur climbers can test their mettle. Ask the front desk and we'll set it up for you.
We have chalk and tape on site, but please do bring your own climbing shoes.
